This week, an interview with country musician Buddy Greene. He's probably best known in the Untied States for co-writing the Christmas song "Mary, Did You Know?" But he's also a harmonica virtuoso and he played a concert this month in the Faroe Islands. Our good friend Heri Simonsen interviewed Greene after the show, and also recorded Greene performing a traditional Faroese song with a choir. We've got the interview and the music on this week's show.

This week, we take a hike up a feature commonly known as Slave's Peak.* It's a relatively easy hike, but the host and producer find a way to make it difficult. Along the way, they encounter stiff winds, angry birds (the birds, not the game), and piles of dung from various animals.

The hike takes between one and two hours, but this podcast is only 20 minutes long. So think of all the time you've saved.

Why a super preview? Because qualifying play doesn't start for another year, that's why.

But nevertheless, the draw for the qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil took place last month, and we are duty-bound to look into it. The Faroe Islands National Team (out-of-date photo above) is in group "C", and they've got some stiff competition.

The family says: "Our son, Ísak, 5 year old, which is ½ norwegian, has understood that something terrible has happened in Norway, in these last few days. He surprised us last night, after he'd been playing outside, he called us out, to witness a memorial site, which he himeself, without encouragement, had built."

Ísak told the family: "This memorial, is for all of those who are crying in Norway, because an evil man has shot Norway. Later he said, that when they see this memorial, they will know that Jesus is comforting them."

The Faroe Islands Podcast turns two this week, so we (Tollak and Matt) sit down to discuss the origins of the show and remember our favorite moments of the past two years. The show is that conversation, presented with minimal editing. It’s our little birthday present to you. Anyone who listens will understand the significance of the less-than-flattering photo at the top of this post.

And while we’ve got your attention, let’s highlight a serious oversight during the discussion. We listed some of our favorite interviews of the past two years, but neglected to mention the show featuring Stanley Samuelsen. It wasn’t really an interview show, so I guess our minds didn’t register it as an interview. But it’s among our favorite things we’ve ever done, and we should’ve mentioned it. Also Marius. He did a great performance for us in 2009. If you haven’t heard it, you should go back into the archives and find it. It’s excellent.
